After gaining experience in the New York area, she relocated to the more rural lifestyle of Vermont.
Several major hiking trips were accomplished during this period of time: the 100 mile West Highland Way in Scotland, the corridor hike across the Grand Canyon and several hiking adventures over the Knifes Edge to the top of Mount Katahdin in Maine. Not all hikes are aggressive overnights, she also happily accomplishes day hikes such as the “leisurely” Mt.Washington and Mt. Cube in New Hampshire, and climbs around the mountains of her home state, such as the prehistoric volcano of Mt. Ascutney.
Alison seems to like the literal and symbolic climb of a mountain as she is still, not done with school yet. Deciding on a career change, she has matriculated into Vermont Technical College on the path to becoming an Electromechanical Engineer. To hear her logic voiced, she desires strongly to increase her understanding of the natural world by embracing the studies of math, physics and their practical uses.
Alison loves her dog Spirit and and three cats Thoreau, the Fluff ball and Talula. She enjoys organic gardening, whole foods and her country walks with the Spirit dog.
